British Society of Interventional Radiology Quality Improvement

The British Society of Interventional Radiology Quality Improvement Initiative aims to improve quality and access to Interventional Radiology services across the UK. We wish to develop a UK wide network of IR sites contributing to sharing improvement in IR services. The project is supported by the BSIR, Royal College of Radiologists, National Imaging Board and DoH Improvement Directorate.  This website has been developed as a resource to support improvement in IR services.

At the heart of this initiative is a network of Interventional Radiology services who have used the BSIRQI assessment questionnaire to evaluate their current service. The questionnaire focuses on four key areas:

  • Scope of services - defining services both in hours and out of hours.
  • Providing good quality care
  • Patient focus
  • Service improvement

The self-assessment proforma is available for download from this page and we encourage all services to complete the assessment and submit it to us. We recognise that many sites will be working towards some of the criteria. Sites that fulfil all the key criteria will become an exemplar site. Those sites that are still working towards fulfilling the criteria will be registered as pilot sites.

We hope that sites will share information and solutions that have allowed them to improve the quality of Interventional Radiology services and we encourage sites to submit and share examples on this website.

This website aims to provide a resource that will encourage services to develop and improve IR services.

If you have any suggestions how we can improve the site, then please email us at: admin@bsir-qi.org
