The British Society of Interventional Radiology Quality Improvement Initiative aims to improve quality and access to Interventional Radiology services across the UK. We wish to develop a UK wide network of IR sites contributing to sharing improvement in IR services . The project is supported by the BSIR, Royal College of Radiologists, National Imaging Board and DoH Improvement Directorate. This website has been developed as a resource to support improvement in IR services.
NHS England will be actively involved in commissioning Interventional Radiology Services over the next few years. There is currently no accreditation standard for Interventional Radiology services and no external standard that services and commissioners can use to ensure high quality Interventional Radiology services. The BSIRQI does not provide an accreditation of participating Interventional Radiology services. Services involved however, have shown a commitment to improving quality and access to IR services and have undertaken self assessment of their services in four key domains; scope of services, providing good quality care, patient focus and service improvement.
